“Symmetrisk Skitse“
Sine waves, huh? I’ll have to admit my bias that my initial expectation when seeing that description on any music is that I’m likely going to hear lots of high-pitched tones/drones, or just some of that “alien spaceship” vibe. While you will catch some brief moments of both of those things here, Kristoffer Raasted takes the sine waves much further, through all kinds of interesting, ever changing evolutions. It keeps you rapt because it’s never resting. It’s like Kristoffer just discovered this tool and is constantly manipulating and trying to find all the ways it can be used, while the listener gets to share in that joy of discovery. And I’m not positive, but I think this piece may be symmetrical; an aural mirror image flowing back to its beginning from the midway point. See if you can tell.
